Executive Director
Wes has over 48 years of experience practicing law for Indian Legal. As an Executive Director, he oversees all program services, finances, and staffing. He is also an active attorney.
He is currently representing clients with cases in St. Louis County (Virginia and Hibbing), Aitkin County, Cook County, and Bois Forte Tribal Court.
Staff Attorney
Laureen joined Indian Legal in 2023. She brings with her over 26 years of experience as a Public Defender, working in both Ramsey and Hennepin counties. Laureen was also a Public Defender and an educator on the Spirit Lake Reservation in Fort Totten, ND.
She is currently representing clients with cases in St. Louis County (Duluth), Carlton County, and Lake County.

Legal Assistant/Secretary
Gina has been with Indian Legal for over 29 years. She supports the attorneys, fellow staff, and our clients by managing the office, completing intakes, maintaining court calendars, sending out court notices, closing files, and many other duties as needed.
Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper
Candy joined Indian Legal in 2023. She is a member of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe. Candy has experience working with low-income, unhoused, and domestic abuse survivors. She assists the attorneys by opening case files, completing intakes, sending out court notices, completing bookkeeping tasks, providing in-house graphic design, and any other duties as needed.
Legal Assistant
Stephen joined Indian Legal in 2024. He has worked for law offices in Texas and Wisconsin before joining our team. He has experience with filing expungements, working with incarcerated juveniles and providing supervised visits for families with children in need of protective services. Stephen assists the attorneys with office support tasks, file management, and conducting legal research.
Legal Assistant
Hayley joined Indian Legal in 2025. She has a Juris Doctor degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, and has studied Child Advocacy, CHIPS, Criminal, and Civil matters. She has also worked as a Certified Student Attorney for the Innocence Project. Hayley supports the attorneys by assisting with trial preparation, drafting legal documents, filing motions and subpoenas, etc., as well as conducting legal research.
